JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Conservation has announced significant changes to turkey hunting regulations for the upcoming fall seasons.
According to a press release, these changes aim to balance conservation efforts with maintaining hunting opportunities. Starting this fall, hunters will see a reduction in the harvest limit from four to two birds of either sex.
Additionally, both fall firearms turkey hunters and fall archery turkey hunters will be required to purchase a fall turkey-hunting permit separately. Turkeys will no longer be included in the archery-deer permit.
In addition, private land shooting hours have been extended from half-hour before sunrise to sunset, while public land shooting hours remain from half-hour before sunrise to 1 p.m.
These changes will be effective for the Spring 2024 turkey season.
