JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - In a move to provide relief to drivers amid rising gasoline prices, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has announced the extension of approval for E-15, a higher ethanol blend known as Unleaded 88, for the upcoming summer driving season.
This decision ensures continued access to a lower-cost, lower-emission fuel option for drivers across the nation.
Missouri Corn Growers Association President Brent Hoerr welcomed the final waiver needed for year-round E-15 in the state, emphasizing the benefits of cleaner, more cost-effective choices at the pump.
Despite being approved for 96% of vehicles on the road today, outdated regulations have restricted the sale of E-15 during summer months. However, with this extension, drivers can expect uninterrupted access to the fuel.
Hoerr says by utilizing higher blends of corn-based renewable fuels like E-15, the country can work towards improving energy independence, reducing emissions, and promoting a cleaner future.
