JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The University of Missouri Extension is breaking down barriers to mental health services for Missouri farmers and their families through the newly revised Show-Me Strong Farm Families website.
In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, the site offers free telehealth counseling by trusted professionals familiar with agriculture. This service is confidential, convenient, and accessible by phone or online.
To request free, confidential telehealth counseling, visit the website, email [email protected], or call 573-882-4677.
This service is not for emergencies; in such cases, contact the 24-hour National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988.
Farm stress can contribute to mental health struggles, with signs including changes in appetite, weight, concentration, and relationships.
Missouri faces a significant shortage of mental health providers, and the Show-Me Strong Farm Families initiative helps bridge this gap.
The initiative is supported by the North Central Farm and Ranch Stress Alliance Center and a USDA grant.
