ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and the City of St. Joseph Health Department are facing a vaccine shortage for adults under the 317 Program.

This program provides vaccines to uninsured or underinsured adults aged 19 and older. Currently, there is no information on when more vaccines will be available.

The terms “uninsured” or “underinsured” do not include those with health insurance covering immunizations, individuals with Medicare or those with Medicaid vaccine coverage.

The health department’s immunization clinic has a two-week supply of the 317 vaccine based on current usage trends. Uninsured or underinsured adults are urged to call the clinic at 816-271-4725 to check availability.

Vaccine supplies come from various funding sources and cannot be interchanged. Vaccines for children are available regardless of insurance status, and vaccines for insured adults are still accessible.
