JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is offering assistance to landowners looking to improve their property and benefit surrounding wildlife.
MDC private land conservationists can help plan habitat improvement projects and guide landowners through available cost-share opportunities.
Funding for various land management practices is available annually from July 1 through June 30.
Landowners can work with conservationists to create a management plan tailored to their goals, and then either hire a contractor or complete the work themselves.
MDC staff provide expertise on invasive species control, converting fescue to native grasses and wildflowers, forest improvements, and prescribed burns.
Note that some practices, like woodland burns, have specific timeframes requiring early sign-up. For more information on the best times for land improvements, visit MDC's website.
