KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Community Blood Center (CBC) is urgently calling for blood donors as Hurricane Milton slams Florida.
Severe weather has disrupted blood collections across the region, forcing the closure of blood centers, canceling drives, and limiting donor access. These challenges are worsening the ongoing national blood shortage.
The CBC is providing blood products to support hospitals in affected areas and urges local residents to donate to maintain a stable supply.
CBC Executive Director Jennifer Kaluza emphasized in a press release the need for blood during this critical time, saying, “There’s no substitute for blood, and the need is critical, now more than ever.”
Eligible donors can give every 56 days, with platelets accepted twice a month. For eligibility guidelines or to schedule a donation, visit savealifenow.org or call 877-468-6844.
