CLARINDA, Iowa - Join local author and travel writer Megan Bannister at the Lied Public Library in Clarinda on December 16 at 6:30 p.m. for a journey through Iowa’s hidden gems and quirky attractions, as detailed in her book "Secret Iowa: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful, and Obscure."

The event will be held at the library and online via Zoom. Bannister will highlight unique spots like the only remaining Frank Lloyd Wright-designed hotel, the World’s Largest Popcorn Ball, and the famous Grotto of the Redemption.

Discover offbeat stories about Iowa’s history, such as why the Los Angeles Lakers built a basketball court in Carroll and the future birthplace of Star Trek’s Captain Kirk.

An Iowa transplant and Des Moines resident, Bannister has spent over a decade exploring roadside attractions and sharing her adventures through writing.
