CHULA, Mo. - A 16-year-old driver and his passenger were injured Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash on Route V, three miles south of Chula.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. when the teen’s 2002 Mitsubishi Montero failed to negotiate a curve, veered off the road multiple times, and ultimately overturned before striking a utility pole.
The vehicle came to rest on its wheels off the west side of the roadway.
The driver, a juvenile from Brookfield, sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Livingston County Ambulance to Hedrick Medical Center. His passenger, a 37-year-old man from Galt, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to St. Luke's in Kansas City.
Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt. The vehicle was totaled and removed by a private party. The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
