Jandron named Bearcat head baseball coach

Northwest Missouri State baseball has a new leader in place.

Bearcat athletic director Andy Peterson announced the hiring of Tony Jandron as the university's new head baseball coach.

He takes over for Darin Loe who retired at the end of the 2024 season after managing Northwest for 25 years.

Jandron comes to Maryville with experience at the NCAA Division 1 and Division 2 levels with stops at Illinois State, Central Michigan, and Northwood, along with a stint at the College of Dupage – a junior college in Glen Ellyn, IL.

"I'm thrilled to get Coach Jandron to campus and turn the keys to the baseball program over to him," Peterson said in a statement. "We had a ton of interest and qualified coaches reached out about running our team, and Tony quickly separated himself as a top candidate. As an assistant he has been a part of successful teams at every stop in his career and I'm excited to see what he can do as a head coach in building off the foundation here at Northwest Missouri State. We're excited to get Tony and his wife, Gabby, to town and start the next chapter of Bearcat baseball."

In his lone season with Illinois State, he served as third base coach and ran the offense. The Redbirds posted a .291 team batting average with 76 home runs and 54 stolen bases while putting up a 30-27 record.

Prior to his top at Illinois State, Jandron was an assistant at Central Michigan over five highly successful seasons that saw the Chippewas post a .689 win percentage (177-80) and three straight NCAA Tournament appearances. CMU also stole a program-record 133 bases during the 2023 season.

Jandron's three seasons at Northwood University in Midland, MI included the school's first two GLIAC regular season and tournament titles.

The Negaunee, MI native played college baseball and basketball at St. Norbert College in DePere, WI. He posted the nation's highest batting average (.511) in 2010 on the way to an All-America selection. He also graduated at St. Norbert's all-time wins leader with 22. Jandron was a four-time all-conference selection on the diamond. He was also an all-conference guard on the basketball team.
