Ben McCollum will enter the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame with golfer Tom Watson and former Royal Eric Hosmer.
Northwest Missouri State men's head basketball coach Ben McCollum will receive one of the highest honors the Show-Me State has to offer in May.
McCollum will be inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame with enshrinement set for Sunday, May 19 at 1pm at Union Station in Kansas City.
McCollum has guided the Bearcats to four national championships, 13 MIAA regular season championships, and eight MIAA tournament titles. He's also been named NABC Division II National Coach of the Year five times – the most in division II history – and MIAA Coach of the Year nine times. The Storm Lake, IA native also owns a career record of 394-91 (.812 win %) across 15 seasons.
Former Northwest Missouri State softball pitcher and Chillicothe Hornet Sarah Baldwin Miller and former Bearcat baseball pitcher Anthony Caenepeel will each be honored with a Diamond 9 Award.
Others being honored include golfer Tom Watson with the Missouri Sports Legend Award and former Kansas City Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer.
The full class of 2024 will feature:
