Maryville athletic facility upgrades press onward as seasons near

new Maryville football/soccer complex

Construction at the Maryville football/soccer complex is complete.

A long summer of facility upgrades around the Maryville High School campus is winding down, and all of the athletic fields will be ready for game action in the coming weeks.

"We're on track," Maryville athletic director Matt Webb said Monday morning.

The new artificial turf on the Spoofhound soccer and football complex is expected to be finished by late this week, then it will be all-hands-on-deck for the turf installation at the Maryville softball and baseball field.

"They just have to add a few more finishing touches, then they'll move across the parking lot and get on the baseball/softball complex."

The anticipated completion date for the baseball/softball field is the first week of September.

"We're going to be very blessed and fortunate to see these facilities and what it can do for an athletics and activities department."

The Spoofhound softball team will be on the road for the first couple weeks of the season before playing its first home game on the new turf September 12 against Lafayette.

Webb says a Maryville home game against Lathrop was originally scheduled for September 3, but will be moved back later in the season.
