HAMBURG, Iowa - Firefighters from five departments battled an early morning house fire in Hamburg.
Officials says crews were dispatched to a residence in the 2300 block of Main Street shortly before 3:45 a.m. Thursday, finding the kitchen fully engulfed.
Two adults and four children escaped the single-family home, despite the fire alarms not functioning.
Departments from Sidney, Riverton, Farragut, and Nebraska City assisted Hamburg firefighters, with Hamburg Rescue providing rehab services for those tackling the blaze.
The fire, believed to have started in the kitchen due to an electrical issue, left the home a total loss. Firefighters were on the scene for several hours.
