JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Bird enthusiasts across Missouri are invited to take part in the inaugural Missouri Birding Challenge, running from May 1 to May 15.
Organized by the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Missouri River Bird Observatory, and Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation, the event welcomes birders of all experience levels.
Participants can compete individually or in teams, categorized by age, experience, and comfort level. Birders will log their sightings on eBird, whether from public natural areas or their own backyards.
Those who complete a category will be entered into a drawing for prizes, including binoculars and gift cards. Entry fees range from $10 to $25, with proceeds supporting migratory bird conservation.
Registration opens April 1 and runs through April 30. For more information and updates, visit the MDC website.
