SAVANNAH, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is offering a free ice fishing workshop at Happy Holler Lake, northeast of Savannah, on Saturday, February 8, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Participants will learn about ice safety, fishing equipment, fish identification, and get hands-on experience fishing on the ice.

The MDC will provide bait, tackle, and pre-drilled holes, but attendees can bring their own gear, ice cleats, and a chair or bucket to sit on. Dressing warmly for the weather is highly recommended.

Advance registration is required and can be completed online at mdc-event-web.s3licensing.com or by calling the Northwest Regional Office at (816) 271-3100.

Fishing permits are needed for participants aged 16 to 65 and must be purchased beforehand at missouriconservation.org/permits.
