JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Revenue is now accepting electronically filed state tax returns for the 2024 tax year.

To ensure a smooth tax season, the department is encouraging taxpayers to file electronically and use direct deposit for faster refunds. Free e-filing services are available through the Free File Alliance for eligible Missourians.

For those filing paper returns, double-check your math, signatures, and documentation, and use the correct mailing address.

Forms and instructions are available on the department's website, with 2D barcode forms helping to speed up processing.

Taxpayers eligible for credits like the Missouri Property Tax Credit should attach all required documentation, including Form MO-TC.

Property Tax Credit Claims can now be filed online, along with basic Missouri Individual Income Tax Returns for certain filers. Online tools include a Tax Return Status Tracker and the DOR chatbot, DORA, for 24/7 assistance.

Tax help is also available through volunteer programs like AARP Tax-Aide and MU Extension.
