Platte County authorities seeking clues in shooting death

PLATTE COUNTY, Mo. - The Platte County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in the investigation of a potential road rage incident that led to the shooting death of 50-year-old Dennis Sharkey.

Authorities are seeking information about a white 2019 Chevy Spark that was traveling southbound on I-29 on Friday, January 10, between 6:30 and 7 p.m.

The vehicle is believed to have been driven by the victim, who was traveling from northern Platte County shortly before the incident occurred at 7 p.m.

Anyone who may have seen the vehicle or has information relevant to the case is urged to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.

Tips can remain anonymous, and information leading to an arrest could earn a reward of up to $25,000. Sharkey was a Kansas City native that had a journalism degree from Northwest Missouri State University.
