Chillicothe had annual mock accident event

Several law enforcement agencies in north-central Missouri partnered with the Grand River Technical School and Skills USA to put on a mock accident program for students in Chillicothe. The accident simulation gave students a first hand look at the real-life consequences of unsafe driving and critical roles first responders play in emergency situations. Chillicothe Police Chief John Maples says this a good time of year to stress to young drivers the importance of making good decisions when they get back the steering wheel of a vehicle.
"It's a really good thing to kind of be preventative on any critical incident we may see around this time of year with the dances and prom. The goal is to be preventative and show them the reality of the consequences that can happen and the impact that it can have on them.", says Maples.
The annual mock accident event took place Wednesday at the Grand River Technical School in Chillicothe.
