Despite another week of hard winter weather throughout the region, Northwest Missouri State sports continue to compete, while the MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships make their debut in Maryville.

Northwest track & field, baseball, softball and tennis were the focus of Wednesday's Bearcat Coaches Show from Carson's Sports Grille.

The Hughes Fieldhouse on the Northwest Missouri State campus will host its fourth meet of the winter season this weekend, and this one will have conference hardware on the line. Track & field head coach Brandon Masters sat down with John Coffey to discuss the meet, and his expectations for the Bearcats.

Bearcat baseball opens MIAA play this weekend with a three-game series at Northeastern State. Northwest is coming off a 2-1 weekend in the MIAA/GLVC Challenge, and landed four players on the all-tournament team. Head coach Darin Loe spoke about the opening weekend of conference games, and the impact it could have as the team moves forward.

Conference games are just a couple weeks out for Northwest Missouri State softball, but the weather isn't providing opportunities for the Bearcats to prepare with game action. This weekend's Emporia State Tournament has been cancelled, and head coach Ryan Anderson is seeking other alternatives for his club. Despite the lack of games early, Anderson sees a lot of potential in his team moving forward.

The Northwest tennis season is just over a week away with matches in Springfield against Drury rapidly approaching on March 1. Head coach Mark Rosewell discussed the prospects of another season on Wednesday night's Coaches Show.
