Northwest Missouri State football ran its win streak to three in a row with a 27-13 win over Nebraska Kearney Saturday afternoon.

The Bearcats (6-1) started fast with a 21-point first quarter where the offense racked up 252 yards, but the Lopers limited them to just two field goals the rest of the way.

Despite a quiet final three quarters from Northwest, UNK's high-powered option attack was held in check for much of the day.

Nebraska Kearney averaged 304 rush yards per game entering Saturday's contest, but they managed just 132 yards on the ground against the Bearcats.

Maryville native Trent Nally also intercepted a pair of passes in the fourth quarter to end any chances of a Loper comeback.

Braden Wright finished the day 13-26 passing for 177 yards and no interceptions. He found Marqus Andrews streaking up the sideline on the Bearcats' first drive for a 26-yard touchdown strike. It was Andrews' second career touchdown reception.

Wright also ran into the end zone from a yard out to cap Northwest's second drive to open up a 14-0 lead.

The 'Cats reached into their bag of tricks for the third touchdown of the afternoon.

Wright through a lateral to LaTroy Harper on the left sideline, and Harper unleashed a deep pass to running back Brody McMahon for a 67-yard score.

Harper, a true freshman from Hamilton, MO, is 2-2 passing on the season for 98 yards and a touchdown.

Cody Massey led Northwest in receiving with four receptions for 68 yards, and Josh Caldwell paced the ground attack with 61 yards on 15 carries.

Northwest's next test is on the road Saturday against Lindenwood. Bearcat Gameday presented by Impact Interiors starts at 1pm, followed by kickoff at 2pm on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9.
