Northwest Missouri State football made its first postseason trip to Allendale, MI to face perennial power Grand Valley State University, and the Bearcats came away with a resounding 42-17 victory.

The Bearcats (10-2) racked up 356 rushing yards while limiting the Lakers (10-2) to 239 yards of total offense – their lowest output of the season.

Northwest opened the game by forcing a three-and-out of Grand Valley's first offensive possession, and the Bearcat offense responded with a 51-yard touchdown strike from Braden Wright to Shawn Bane to open a 7-0 lead.

The Lakers recovered a fumble in the end zone late in the first quarter to tie the game 7-7, but the 'Cats went back in front midway through the second quarter. Wright hit Marqus Andrews on a one-yard touchdown pass to cap an 11-play, 75 yard drive. Northwest went up 14-7, and didn't trail the rest of the game.

Running backs Josh Caldwell and Isaiah Strayhorn carried the load for the Bearcats in the second half with each rushing for a pair of scores – Caldwell on a pair of 28-yard rushes and Strayhorn on an 84-yard carry and a two-yard rush into the end zone.

At the end of the day, Strayhorn finished with 171 rushing yards and Caldwell went for 148 on the ground. Each player has cleared the 800-yard mark for the season.
