No. 1 Northwest Missouri State University continued its winning ways Saturday afternoon with a 75-57 win over Lincoln in Jefferson City.

The Bearcats (23-0, 13-0 MIAA) are one win shy of matching their start in 2016-2017 when the team won 24 in a row on the way to the program's first national championship later that year.

Lincoln entered the day tied for second in the MIAA standings with just three conference losses, but struggled offensively throughout the day. The Bearcats held the Blue Tigers under 60 points for just the second time this season, and only made 4-17 three-point attempts in the game.

Northwest was also quieter offensively Saturday afternoon hitting just 5-26 three-point shots, but, sparked by the defense, the Bearcats pulled away.

The 'Cats were in front by eight at halftime and started the second half on a 10-0 run to extend the lead to 46-28.

Joey Witthus continued his spectacular senior season with 30 points, including 10-13 from the free throw line, and eight rebounds to lead Northwest.

Trevor Hudgins posted 24 points on 8-15 shooting and 6-6 at the free throw line. The freshman has now made 31 consecutive free throws, four shy of the program record held by Kelvin Parker.

Diego Bernard also added 14 points in the win.

Northwest is back for a two-game swing at Bearcat Arena starting Wednesday evening. The 'Cats host Central Missouri at 7:30pm. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 7:10pm.
