Sept. 13, 2018Coaches Show
September 14-16 marks Family Weekend on the Northwest Missouri State University campus with home games for football, volleyball and soccer all on the schedule.
Thursday night's KXCV Bearcat Coaches Show started some of the festivities early with interviews covering Northwest football's 2-0 start, volleyball's 3-0 weekend and another record-setting tournament for the golf team.
Bearcat athletic director and golf coach Andy Peterson said his team is trending in the right direction after posting the second best single-round team score in program history with a 310 on Tuesday in the NSU Classic. Peterson discussed the team's first two tournament's of the season, and his expectations for the program during the show.
Amy Woerth joined an exclusive club last weekend with her 100th victory as the head volleyball coach at Northwest Missouri State University. In the Bearcats final weekend prior to conference play starting, they won three matches in a row all in just three sets to propel Woerth into the century club. She spoke with John Coffey about the mark, and what she's expecting from a pair of home matches with Lindenwood and Central Missouri.
Bearcat football rolls into an emotional game with a 2-0 record and ranked fourth in the AFCA Top 25 Coaches Poll. Northwest will don black jerseys and red paw decals on their helmets in honor of Scott Bostwick, the late football coach that roamed the sidelines as defensive coordinator from 1994 to 2010. Northwest head football coach Rich Wright and retired head football coach Mel Tjeerdsma sat down with John Coffey to talk about what Bostwick meant to the program, and how the family ties run deep with the team and staff.
