Northwest Missouri State used a strong second quarter to open up a big lead on Lincoln and never look back in a 63-46 win Thursday evening to complete the season sweep of the Blue Tigers.
The Bearcats (14-5, 9-4 MIAA) went on a 20-4 run stretching from the end of the first until late in the second quarter to open up a 21-point lead. The 'Cats led the Blue Tigers 35-14 at halftime.
Lincoln cut the deficit to 12 midway through the fourth quarter, but back-to-back buckets from Emma Atwood and Caely Kesten ballooned the lead back to 17 and ended the Blue Tigers' night.
Mallory McConkey led Northwest with 15 points, four rebounds and three assists. The South Nodaway alum crossed the 1,000 point mark for her career with a pair of free throws late in the third quarter. She becomes just the 19th Bearcat with 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. She currently stands at 1,005 points and 547 rebounds for her career.
Freshman Peyton Kelderman put up 11 points for Northwest, hitting on 3-5 three-point attempts. Kelsey Fields also notched her second career double-double, and second in the last two weeks, with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Northwest is back home Saturday to face Central Missouri at 1:30pm. Pregame on KXCV 90.5, KRNW 88.9 begins at 1pm.
