Northwest Missouri State started fast and didn't slow down on the way to a 66-13 blowout win over Nebraska Kearney during the annual Homecoming game on Saturday.

The Bearcats (7-1) dominated from start to finish, outgaining the Lopers with 606 total yards to just 242. UNK's highly-rated rushing offense which entered the day leading the MIAA was limited to 61 yards.

Northwest used some razzle-dazzle on the opening kickoff to set the tone for the game. Imoni Donadelle fielded the kick at the Bearcat six yard line. He ran right and flipped the ball to Kaden Davis who broke back to the left side of the field. Davis took it from the 10 yard line and used his speed and some key blocks to outrun the UNK kick coverage for a game-opening return for a touchdown.

The Lopers responded with a nine-play, 75 yard drive to take a 7-6 lead, but it was all Bearcats after that.

Northwest scored the next 42 consecutive points to close out the first half of play, including three touchdown runs by Al McKeller.

UNK tried to show some life, scoring the first points of the second half to cut the deficit to 48-13.

The 'Cats hit the accelerator again as the third quarter continued. Mike Hohensee threw his third touchdown pass of the game. Then, in the fourth quarter, McKeller scored for the fourth time, all rushing touchdowns.

McKeller finished with 91 yards and four touchdowns on 17 carries.

Hohensee passed for 270 yards and three touchdowns, and ran for 68 yards and another score on the way to winning the Don Black Award, an honor for the Homecoming MVP as voted on by local media.

Drew Dostal led the Northwest defense with nine tackles and three pass break-ups in his second start of the season.

Brody Buck logged 1.5 sacks in the game. Zach Howard earned one, while Elijah Green picked up half a sack in the game.

Isaiah Nimmers also hauled in his second interception of the season to go along with a pair of tackles.

Northwest is on the road next week, facing Missouri Southern in Joplin at 2pm. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 1pm.
