Northwest Missouri State athletics opened the fall sports season with a perfect week across the board. This week's Bearcat Coaches Show highlights the triumphs from Northwest volleyball, soccer, football, and cross country.
Bearcat soccer earned a road win over Sioux Falls and returned home to knock off Wayne State to mark their first 2-0 start since 2014.
Northwest volleyball posted a perfect 4-0 record from sunny Tampa, FL with wins over Augustana, Ashland, Illinois-Springfield, and a thrilling five-set victory over No. 5 Tampa. The Bearcats moved up to No. 8 in the latest AVCA Top 25.
Bearcat football continued its rivalry with Fort Hays State, earning a hard-fought 15-7 win to start the 2021 season 1-0. The week two matchup with Lincoln was canceled after the Blue Tiger football team entered into COVID-19 protocols.
Northwest cross country hosted its only home meet of the season and won the Bearcat Open in both the women's and men's races Friday evening in Maryville.
