Northwest Missouri State was held to a season-low shooting percentage against Fort Hays State, and the Tigers picked up a 58-39 win over the Bearcats on Thursday.
The Bearcats (3-9, 1-2 MIAA) hit just 27.5-percent of their attempts in a battle against the top scoring defense in the conference.
Northwest trailed 32-18 at halftime, and put together a strong defensive effort holding Fort Hays 14 points below its season scoring average. The Bearcats also kept the Tigers without a field goal for the final 7:27 of the second half. Fort Hays was able to put the game away at the free throw line making 16-of-19 in the final 20 minutes.
Emorie Knox led Northwest with 10 points off the bench.
The Bearcats are back on the hardwood Saturday at home against Nebraska Kearney. Tip-off is at 1pm. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 12:30pm.
