Northwest Missouri State held a two-point halftime lead over No. 3 Fort Hays State, but the Tigers surged ahead in the third quarter and topped the Bearcats 70-60.
The Bearcats (7-6, 0-3 MIAA) shot 50-percent (16-32) from the field in the first half, and Caely Kesten scored 16 of her team-high 19 points in the opening two quarters.
Fort Hays took advantage of a quiet third quarter for Northwest, outscoring the 'Cats 20-8 to open a 10-point advantage. The Tiger lead was cut to six points with 4:57 remaining in the game, but the Bearcats wouldn't get any closer the rest of the way.
Emree Zars scored a season-high 15 points, including three-of-four from beyond the arc.
Aaliyah Riley cracked double digits for the second time this season with 10 points.
