Northwest Missouri State senior Luke Moustakas knocked down his lone three-pointer of the night at the most critical moment and the Bearcats prevailed in a 63-62 win over Central Missouri Thursday night.
The Bearcats (4-10) snapped a three-game skid and earned a fourth consecutive victory in Warrensburg.
Trailing by two in the final 10 seconds of the game, Luke Moustakas came off a screen at the top of the key, and Ja'Vion Byers found him. The Chicago, IL native rose up and hit his first three-pointer in six attempts to put Northwest on top by one point with four seconds remaining. The Bearcats got a stop on the final UCM possession of the night to hang on for the victory.
Byron Alexander led Northwest with 11 points on 4-5 shooting and also pulled in five rebounds.
Trey Moala finished with eight points in his first career start.
Moustakas ended the game with seven points and four rebounds.
The Bearcats are back on the road Saturday at 3pm against Washburn. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 2:30pm.
