Northwest Missouri State battled back from a first quarter deficit to down Central Missouri 66-58 and end a six game skid.
The Bearcats (8-7, 1-4 MIAA) pushed back above .500 and won for the first time since November 30. The win also marks back-to-back victories in Warrensburg for the first time in 21 years.
Central Missouri jumped out to a 17-4 lead seven minutes into Thursday night's contest. Northwest answered with a 15-1 run to take a 19-18 advantage. The teams traded leads as the second quarter went on until Kelsey Fields hit a pair of free throws with just over five minutes remaining in the half. The Jennies managed to tie the game again in the second half, but never led the rest of the way.
Northwest hit 45.8% of their attempts marking their best shooting night since the win over Mission University on the final day of November.
Kelsey Fields posted her 13th career double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Caely Kesten scored a game-high 19 points, while Molly Hartnett added 10.
Northwest is on the road again Saturday against Washburn. Tip-off is set for 1pm. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 12:30pm.
