Northwest Missouri State was superb at the free throw line and outlasted Washburn in overtime Saturday 66-61.
The Bearcats (9-7, 2-4 MIAA) and Ichabods traded the lead 18 times across 45 minutes of action. It was a layup by Caely Kesten on the first possession of overtime that put Northwest in front for good at 59-57.
Northwest posted the team's best free throw shooting day of the season hitting 24 of 27 attempts. The Bearcats also drained 40% (8-20) three-point attempts, paced by Kesten's four makes from deep.
The senior from Denver, CO posted a game-high 22 points.
Molly Hartnett chipped in with 14 points, four rebounds and four assists.
Emree Zars also scored in double figures for the second time in four games, finishing with 11 points while going 6-6 at the free throw line.
The Bearcats' four-game road trip continues Thursday against Nebraska Kearney. Game time is 5:30pm. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 5pm.
