Northwest Missouri State men's basketball put the pedal to the metal in the second half against Central Washington, and held off a late rally to finish its swing through the Pacific Northwest with an 83-to-80 win.

The Bearcats and Wildcats were tied at 30-30 at halftime before Northwest shot a ridiculous 75-percent from the field in the final 20 minutes.

The 'Cats went up by 15 with 1:29 remaining when Central Washington made a push. CWU hit six of eight three-point attempts over that span to make a furious comeback and climb within two. A late free throw by Jack Ratigan sealed it pushed the advantage to three and Northwest held on for the victory.

Emorie Knox finished with 21 points to lead the Bearcats.

Ja'Vion Byers scored a career-high 17 points off the bench for Northwest.

The Bearcats play one more time before the holiday break. They host Southwestern Kansas Friday at 2pm. That game will be available on the Bearcat Public Media app under the Maryville tab or here.
