Nov. 26, 2024Coaches Show | Basketball, Cross Country
The fall sports season officially comes to a close, while basketball is on the cusp of conference play. This week's Bearcat Coaches Show highlights the NCAA Cross Country National Championships and the continued slate of games away from home for Northwest basketball.
Northwest Missouri State cross country produced three All-Americans at the national meet for the first time in program history. Grant Bradley, Nate Mueller and Drew Atkins each finished in the top 25 to spearhead the Bearcat attack. Bradley, Mueller and coach Wick Cunningham joined the show to discuss the experience in Sacramento.
Northwest women's basketball has reeled off five straight wins. Their most recent was a 25-point road victory against William Jewell. The Bearcats will get their first taste of playing at home Saturday with a matchup against Mission University. Head coach Austin Meyer is alongside freshmen Sadie Maas and Brooklyn Stanley talking about the impressive start to the 2024-25 campaign.
Bearcat men's basketball is coming off another tough weekend of NSIC opponents, suffering losses to No. 18 Southwest Minnesota State and Concordia St. Paul. Northwest will practice Thanksgiving week, then play its next game at home on December 3 against Missouri Western in the MIAA opener. Head coach Matt Keeley and sophomore Jack Ratigan sat down with John Coffey to talk about the non-conference slate.
